The Immigration Hot Seat

The issue of illegal immigrants seems to be on the forefront of conversations and law-making these days.  In Fremont, Nebraska, there is debate over a new law that would ban the hiring of or renting to illegal immigrants.

Bright Eyes Resurfaces With Re-release

Conor Oberst has been keeping himself busy these years with his side projects Monsters of Folk and Mystic Valley.  After announcing aspirations of separating from the Bright Eyes persona, he has re-released his 2004 collaboration with Neva Dinova “One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels.”

The new edition features four new songs that were recorded in late 2009.  The pairing does not produce the emotion characteristic of most Bright Eyes albums with Neva Dinova contributing a more inspiring sound.

As of yet, there is no word if Conor Oberst will continue on with the Bright Eyes persona and if there will be new music surfacing under that name.  For more information on Conor’s recent projects visit conoroberst.com.

Is the End of Bright Eyes Near?

Conor Oberst recently told Rolling Stone magazine that it may soon be time to hang up the Bright Eyes persona. In the interview, he said, “It does feel like it needs to stop at some point. I’d like to clean it up, lock the door, say goodbye.”

So what’s to become of the Bright Eyes moniker? Oberst reportedly plans to record new material through this winter and next spring for one last release in 2010. His record company believes he simply wishes to divorce himself of the association eventually so he can move on with other things.
